When will the sale of the Moomin’s Day mug start?

The sale will start in the web shop www.arabiastore.fi and Moomin.com on 9 August 2021 at midnight (EET) and in the stores on the same day, 9 August 2021, when the store opens. On the Moomin.com website, the sale will start on 9 August 2021 at midnight (EET).

Where are the Moomin’s Day mugs sold?

The Moomin by Arabia Moomin’s Day special mug is available primarily from this online store (deliveries to Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Ireland) and Moomin.com (international deliveries).

In other countries, mugs are sold in Iittala's own stores in Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Japan. In addition, the mugs are sold at Moomin Shops at the Helsinki Airport and in the UK. In Japan, in addition to Iittala’s own stores, the mugs are sold at Scope and in China the mugs are sold at T-mall.

What is the price of the mug?

The price of the Moomin’s Day mug is €29.90 and it is sold in a gift pack. The gift pack is similarly illustrated.

How many mugs can I buy at once?

The number of mugs to be bought is limited in order to give as many customers as possible an opportunity to buy the mug. Therefore, we limit the purchase to six mugs per customer.

Is it possible to reserve the mug in advance?

It is not possible to reserve or order the mug in advance, and the stores will not take reservations by phone.

In which countries is the Moomin’s Day mug sold?

On the arabiastore.eu website (deliveries to Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Ireland), at Moomin Shops (in Finland at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and the United Kingdom) and on the Moomin.com website (international deliveries). In addition to Iittala’s own shops, the mug is sold in Japan by retailer Scope and, in China in T-mall.

What kind of safety measures are implemented in stores?

The safety of our customers and employees is always a priority. The stores where the mugs are sold have strict security measures in place: hand disinfectant and face masks are available, queuing outside the stores is directed with signs, security personnel are present and only a limited number of customers are admitted inside the store at a time to ensure safety distances and a comfortable and safe visit to the store. Our staff wear face masks at all times.

How many Moomin’s Day 2021 mugs will be manufactured?

A limited number of the mugs will be produced, and this limited edition will be made available on 9 August 2021. The mugs are sold as long as the stock lasts. Fiskars is a publicly listed company, and will not publish exact production and sales numbers.

Is it possible that the mugs will be sold out on the very first selling day?

The mugs will become available on the said date and they are sold as long as the stock lasts. It is not possible to give an estimation on the availability.

What is the Moomin’s Day and how is it celebrated?

Tove Jansson’s birthday is on 9 August, and this day has been celebrated as the Moomin’s Day since 2004. Tove Jansson created her valuable life’s work in the art and literature sectors, and she is most widely known as the creator of the Moomins and her substantial, relatable content concerning the lives of the Moomins. This life’s work appeals to a large number of Finns spanning several generations, and to international audiences around the world.

Where are the mugs manufactured?

The special mug is manufactured in Thailand, as stated on the product label. A significant share of the work phases related to the Moomin’s Day mugs (as well as other Arabia’s Moomin products), such as design, marketing and distribution, are carried out in Finland. The Moomin dishes are manufactured in cooperation with the contract manufacturers in different countries.

Which story is the Moomin’s Day mug’s illustration based on?

The illustration on the Moomin’s Day mug is based on Tove Jansson’s book Moominland Midwinter from 1957 and the book of songs, Visor från Mumindalen from 1993.

Are the mugs numbered, or otherwise marked in some way? For example, with a bottom stamp?

The mugs have no numbering or special Moomin’s Day stamp. There is a normal seasonal bottom stamp and the year 2021 is marked in the bottom stamp.
